Introduces principles, design, construction and maintenance of automobile engines. Includes overhaul of various systems in the engine (valve, train, oiling system, etc.) safety, use of manuals, selection and use of hand tools. Introduces a variety of systems.
Note: Non-transferable for a NSHE baccalaureate degree. Non-applicable towards an AA or AS Degree.
Demonstrate fundamental skills and knowledge in maintaining and overhauling various systems within the engine.
Demonstrate proficiency using the resources, tools, and diagnostic equipment involved in engine reconditioning processes.

This course fulfills a requirement in the Associate of Applied Science Automotive Mechanics Program.
The mission of the Associate of Applied Science degree in Automotive Mechanics is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the current automotive environment.
This course addresses the following AAS degree student learning outcomes:
