Course Outline

I: Catalog Course Description

Introduces principles, design, construction and maintenance of automotive brake systems including antilock systems. Includes safety, use of manuals, selection and use of hand tools, power tools and hand-held test instruments. Introduces general maintenance of a variety of different systems.
Note: Non-transferable for a NSHE baccalaureate degree. Non-applicable towards an AA or AS Degree.

Understand the principles, design, and construction of automotive brake systems.

Demonstrate a working knowledge of the maintenance of automotive brake systems, including antilock systems.

Understand safety, use of manuals, hand tools, power tools, and hand-held test instruments.

This course is a requirement in the Associate of Applied Science Automotive Mechanics Program and in the Automotive Mechanics Certificate of Achievement.

The mission of the Associate of Applied Science degree in Automotive Mechanics is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the current automotive environment.
