Introduces principles, design, construction and maintenance of automotive standard transmission. Includes safety, use of manuals, selection and use of hand tools, power tools and test equipment. Studies transmission principles and systems. Includes disassembly and overhaul of various standard automobile transmissions.
Note: Non-transferable for a NSHE baccalaureate degree. Non-applicable towards an AA or AS Degree.
Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of automotive standard transmissions.
Demonstrate practical knowledge of the disassembly and overhaul of various standard transmissions.
Demonstrate proficiency using the resources, tools, and diagnostic equipment involved in maintaining standard transmissions.
Linkage of course to educational program mission and at least one educational program outcome.
This course may be chosen as an elective in the Associate of Applied Science Automotive Mechanics Program.
The mission of the Associate of Applied Science degree in Automotive Mechanics is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the current automotive environment.
