Provides an opportunity to learn how to extract and amplify
genomic DNA using the polymerase chain reaction; apply concepts of chemistry and evolutionary biology to study an organism they choose; identify a question involving their chosen organism and answer it using DNA technology; research and identify protocols and materials such as M-SAT primers specific to the organism they choose; subject data to statistical analysis and relate their findings to concepts of evolution. |

: Provides an opportunity to learn how to extract and amplify genomic DNA using the polymerase chain reaction; apply concepts of chemistry and evolutionary biology to study an organism they choose; identify a question involving their chosen organism and answer it using DNA technology; research and identify protocols and materials such as M-SAT primers specific to the organism they choose; subject data to statistical analysis and relate their findings to concepts of evolution.
Upon completion of BIOL 212, the student will have:
- 1.Gained factual knowledge (terminology, classifications, methods, trends) about Introduction to Human Genetics Lab.
- 2.Learned fundamental principles, generalizations, or theories of Introduction to Human Genetics Lab.
- 3.Learned to apply course material (to improve thinking, problem-solving, and decisions) in Introduction to Human Genetics Lab.
- 4.Developed specific skills, competencies and points of view needed by professionals in the field most closely related to Introduction to Human Genetics Lab.
- 5.Acquired an interest in learning more by asking questions and seeking answers about Introduction to Human Genetics Lab.
