Course Outline

I: Catalog Course Description

Introduces students to the importance of decision making and conflict resolution in the workplace. Focuses on evaluation and development of decision making procedures, conflict resolution techniques and stress reduction strategies for career success.

Note: Non-transferable for a NSHE baccalaureate degree. Non-applicable towards an AA or AS Degree.

II: Course Objectives

• Identify various problem-solving approaches.
• Identify the steps in the problem-solving process.
• Identify critical thinking strategies and decision making techniques in the work setting.
• Recognize the importance of utilizing a problem-solving process in the work environment.
• Recognize the importance of negotiation, behaviors, and positive assertiveness in resolving conflict in the workplace.
• Develop the strategies for conflict resolution in the workplace.
• Recognize how stress impacts the workplace environment.
• Develop strategies to counteract workplace stress.
