I : Catalog Course Description
Teaches how a computer works, along with a complete explanation of hardware and software terminology. Short "hands-on" exercises in DOS, Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, and data base management will provide an overview of today's business application software. A great class for novices. 8-hour class.
II : Course Objectives

This class is for the new computer user. Learn how a computer works, along with a complete explanation of hardware and software terminology. Short "hands-on" exercises in DOS, Windows, and word processing, spreadsheets, and data base management will provide an overview of today's business application software. This is a great class for novices! 8-hour class.

  • • The history and evolution of the PC into business and home use.
  • • What makes a computer, the hardware components
  • • How data is introduced into the computer
  • • What is an operating system
  • • How information is organized in files and folders within the computer
  • • What application software is and how it is used
III : Course Linkage
Linkage of course to educational program mission and at least one educational program outcome.

The emphasis mission is derived directly from the degree mission.

 Acquire skills and perform tasks necessary for employment or career enhancement
