Course Outline

I: Catalog Course Description

Introduces shop processes, detail working drawings, precision dimensioning, limits and tolerances, design layouts, shop notes, parts lists, assembly drawings, developments and intersections, and pictorial drawings.
Note: Non-transferable for a NSHE baccalaureate degree. Non-applicable towards an AA or AS Degree.

II: Course Objectives

Demonstrate an ability to perform a basic tolerance study.

Demonstrate and ability to dimension and tolerance parts such that assemblies will fit together.

Demonstrate and ability to create a design a design layout with all requirements such that detail part drawings and assemblies can be generated.

Demonstrate an ability to produce assembly drawings and generate a bill of materials from the drawings.

This is a course for Drafting Technology Associate of Applied Science degree and fulfills a elective course requirement in the Drafting Technology Architectural Certificate of Achievement.

The mission of the Associate Applied Science in Drafting Technology is to provide employment-related knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the current drafting environment.

This course addresses the following AAS degree student learning outcomes:

1. Knowledge of the subject matter appropriate to the Drafting Technology.
2. Are able to do the following:
a. acquire skills and perform tasks necessary for employment for career enhancement in the drafting field.
b. present themselves effectively to a potential employer.
c. effective communication and computation skills appropriate to the drafting field.
d. utilize appropriate resources to remain current in the drafting field.
