| Covers concepts and capabilities of microcomputer database Systems management. Teaches the command and programming language of a typical system, together with specific experience in creating and using databases in typical applications. Includes both lecture and lab assignments. When offered in variable credit format, content will be divided as follows: A) Concepts and capabilities of database systems management with exploration of initial levels of database software; B) User level access to many of the standard capabilities and menus of the software; C) More difficult capabilities with programming of the database software. |

COT 266 Covers concepts and capabilities of microcomputer database systems management. - 1. Read and analyze problems descriptions.
- 2. Analyze the input and output needs for a specified problem.
- 3. Develop pr choose appropriate algorithms for solving problems.
- 4. Design algorithms using the control structures of structured programming.
- 5. Represent algorithms using an approach acceptable in the modern software development industry.
- 6. Simulate the execution of algorithms using a systematic desk-checking approach.
- 7. Describe the relationship between algorithm design and computer programming in modern high-level programming languages.
- 8. Develop a modular design for a software implementation to solve a problem.
- 9. Describe several approaches for communication of data within a modular software design.
- 10. Read ad understand specific algorithms used for common business problems.
