| Teaches an alternative to being too passive or too aggressive. Students learn skills to become more assertive and communicate effectively. These skills can be used on the job, in relationships, or in any situation with people. |

- Gain factual knowledge (terminology, classifications, methods, and trends) about assertiveness techniques.
- Learn fundamental principles, generalizations, and theories in regards to assertiveness.
- Learn to apply course materials to improve communication, problem solving, and decision making.
