| Identifies community problems which require prevention, suppression or control using the basic methods of police patrol. A history of police patrol and survey of modern patrol tactics will be surveyed. |
| II : Course Objectives |
- Articulate both of paper and verbally the meaning of the trust placed upon the modern police office by the public upon placing the badge upon his/her chest
- Explain correct mental attitude to prepare for stress associated with the job
- Assess the appropriate attire for the assignment
- Verify all equipment as functional
- Critique self in mirror
- Demonstrate proper department attire such as the badge, patches, uniform and adhere to rules concerning dress code
- Recognize officer-witnessed misdemeanors
- Simulate a citizen misdemeanor arrest
- Discuss the management of felony calls
- Recognize others roles in responding
- Complete a preliminary felony investigation
- Complete a felony report fact sheet
- Demonstrate the collecting, presentation, and booking of evidence
- Assess an arrest situation
- Inform suspect of his/her appropriate rights
- Assess preparation for court
- Discuss testifying in court
- Recite the 10-Code
- Recite the police alphabet
