Course Outline

I: Catalog Course Description

Introduces beginning techniques of tap dance. May be repeated for up to four units.

II: Course Objectives

By the completion of the class, the students should, with 75% accuracy:

  • Know objectives and techniques of warming up.
  • Use basic terminology.
  • Perform simple dance combinations with proper body positioning.
  • Be able to choreograph short dance routines using the tap idiom.

III: Course Linkage

Linkage of course to educational program mission and at least one educational program outcome.

Students should:

1. Know the subject matter appropriate to the musical theater degree.
2. Succeed at transfer institutions
3. Understand the importance of cultural traditions, diversity, and ethics in the modern world.
