Course Outline

I: Catalog Course Description

Introduces basic concepts of technical drawing. Covers perception theories, lettering, sketching techniques, use of drafting instruments, orthographic projection, basic dimensioning, and pictorial drawings. Designed as introductory course for CADD 100.

II: Course Objectives

Demonstrate an ability to use basic drafting equipment and supplies.

Demonstrate an ability to reproduce drawings.

Demonstrate an ability to use proper lettering technique.

Demonstrate an ability to utilize geometric construction principles in drafting.

Demonstrate an ability to create orthographic projections.

Demonstrate an ability to create section view.

Demonstrate an ability to properly dimension an orthographic drawing.

Demonstrate an ability to produce pictorial drawings.

The mission of the Associate of Applied Science degree in Drafting Technology is to provide employment-related knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the current drafting environment.
