Recommended minimum of one year EMT Basic experience.
Transfer Information Courses with a 'B' Designator after the number: This course may apply toward a WNC degree or certificate program depending on the degree chosen and other courses completed. It may not transfer or apply to programs at four-year universities within Nevada (UNR, UNLV). In some cases, this course may transfer and apply to programs at two and four year colleges within Nevada and may transfer to out of state schools. I : Catalog Course Description
Provides experienced EMS personnel with basic knowledge of educational principles and skills to participate in the delivery of EMS courses up to and including their level of EMS Certification. Explores concepts of teaching/ learning, teaching methodologies, preparation and use of media and technology, and rationale for use of various evaluation tools and techniques. Students are required to participate in class activities through individual presentations and to complete 10 hours of monitored teaching activity within one year. Meets or exceeds U.S. Department of Transportation criteria and requirements for state of Nevada certification as EMS instructor.
II : Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate, in a classroom situation, the ability to apply knowledge of educational principles and skills to effectively participate in the delivery of EMS courses up to and including their level of EMS Certification.
  2. Utilize teaching methodologies that incorporate the cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains of the learner.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to incorporate the use of a variety of teaching and evaluation methodologies.

Linkage of course to educational program mission and at least one educational program outcome.
