| Surveys literary masterpieces of the Western World after the mid 1600s within the cultural/historical context of the different periods. |
| II : Course Objectives |
Upon completion of this course the students should be able to:
- Appreciate parallel patterns of thought and values among various western cultures as reflected in their literature.
- Appreciate the impact of cultural/historical events upon the development of western literature.
- Recognize the various movements that have prevailed at various times in western literature.
- Recognize the names of major western writers and titles of their primary works.
- Recognize the distinct literary styles of especially influential western writers.
