| Includes reading and discussing selected children's literature. Students examine the role of literature in various themes and genres. |
| II : Course Objectives |
Upon completion of this course the students should be able to:
- Understand the evolution of children's literature
- Recognize the concerns and distinct literary styles of major writers of children's literature
- Recognize patterns of thought, values, social issues, and behavior as reflected in the literature
- Judge children's literature in terms of literary quality and enduring value
- Understand the value of literature in the development of the child
