I : Catalog Course Description
Studies women writers and their work and the ways in which women are portrayed in literature.
II : Course Objectives
  • To read some of the major contributions American women writers have made to literature in the 19th and 20th centuries
  • To appreciate the concerns of historically marginalized groups, particularly women
  • To contemplate the issues and themes that have recurred in women's writing over the past two centuries
  • To understand how historical, social, cultural and personal circumstances shape women's lives and stories
