Transfer Information Courses with numbers 100 to 299: This course is designed to apply toward a WNC degree and/or transfer to other schools within the Nevada System of Higher Education, depending on the degree chosen and other courses completed. It may transfer to colleges and universities outside Nevada. For information about how this course can transfer and apply to your program of study, please contact a counselor.
Programs of Study This course can be found in the following programs of study:
I : Catalog Course Description
Provides overview of engineering practice and exposure to the environment which engineers generally work in. Students will have the opportunity to begin developing information retrieval, technical and interpersonal skills that can be used throughout their educational programs and subsequent careers.
II : Course Objectives

Provides an understanding of the various aspects in the engineering design process by completing the projects, and by learning pertinent computer skills.

  • The overall goal of ENGR100 is to teach students about the process of engineering design.
  • In the Skills Labs, they will also learn several skills that will both help them to complete the project and help them in their engineering studies later on. These learning objectives will be partially achieved through the implementation of the project based learning model.
  • Students will be divided into multidisciplinary teams and a semester-long project will be assigned.
  • Lectures, from different faculty and guest speakers, will be used to supplement the learning objectives.
  • Several design experiences pertinent to the different engineering majors will be introduced.
III : Course Linkage
Linkage of course to educational program mission and at least one educational program outcome.

ENGR 100 fills a degree requirement for the Associate of Science with Engineering emphasis, for which the mission is to prepare students for successful transfer into civil, chemical, computer, electrical, geological, mechanical, metallurgical, or mining engineering, or computer science, or engineering physics. ENGR 100 addresses the specific program student learning outcome:
• [Students] are able to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems
• [Students] Are able to design and conduct experiments as well as to analyze and interpret data

Sections II and III were prepared on December 20, 2007. Please contact the Science, Mathematics & Engineering division for more information.
