Helps students to develop effective and efficient study skills. Students will learn how to learn. Formerly CAPS 122.
II: Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Understand the psychology of learning and memory;
- Identify their preferred learning style(s) and apply this information to courses they are taking;
- Identify college resources available for assistance (including library resources);
- Recognize the effects of goals, time, and stress on learning;
- Use self-assessment techniques to identify their strengths and weaknesses in time-management, reading, note-taking, self-testing, and test-taking;
- Apply techniques to manage test anxiety and stress;
- Use critical thinking skills in reading, note-taking, evaluating information and test-taking; and
- Identify personal, academic, and career goals for the future.
