I : Catalog Course Description
Provides a foundation in microprocessor architecture and microcomputer basics including numbering systems and codes, computer arithmetic and programming, interfacing with RAM and ROM, and various input/output devices. Includes lab.
II : Course Objectives

This course provides a foundation in microprocessor architecture and microcomputer basics including numbering systems and codes, computer arithmetic and programming, interfacing with RAM and ROM, and various input/output devices.

  • • Enable students to acquire knowledge in the areas of the purpose and operation of the functional blocks of a microprocessor and microcontroller.
  • • Provide student with opportunities to gain hands on experience with simulation software and to solidify their understanding of theory with experiments and demonstrations.
III : Course Linkage
Linkage of course to educational program mission and at least one educational program outcome.

This course is a possible elective for an Associate of Applied Science degree with and emphasis in Electronics Technology, where the purpose of the Associate Applied Science Degree is to provide employment-related knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in a chosen field of study.
ET 283B - Microprocessor/ Controller addresses the following AAS degree student learning outcomes. Students to complete programs in occupational areas are expected to demonstrate:
