I : Catalog Course Description
Emphasizes spoken communication. Listening, reading and writing skills will be explored. A vocabulary of French-English words can be developed to suit student needs.
II : Course Objectives

FREN 101B the first semester of a four-semester sequence, is designed to help students acquire beginning communication skills within a culturally significant context. Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Communicate orally using basic French to ask and answer questions using high-frequency vocabulary and basic grammar
  • Understand some French spoken slower than normal pace and develop skills and coping strategies for filling in the gaps.
  • Gain cultural knowledge and awareness about the areas of the world in which French is spoken.
III : Course Linkage
Linkage of course to educational program mission and at least one educational program outcome.

• College-level skills in reading, writing and oral communication

• Have problem solving and critical thinking skills

• Understand the importance of cultural traditions and diversity, and ethics in the modern world
