Analyzes the culture regions of the world including physical settings, peoples, settlements, economic activities, historical and political factions with primary emphasis on the Old World.
II : Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of Geog 106, Introduction to Cultural Geography, students should have a basic understanding of human population, migration patterns, religion, ethnicity, and urbanization processes. Students should also have acquired a basic understanding of the spatial relations between these entities and how these processes are constantly changing.

III : Course Linkage
Linkage of course to educational program mission and at least one educational program outcome.

General Education: Geog 106 is a general education class that promotes the development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that benefit students in their personal and professional endeavors. Students who successfully complete Geog 106 satisfy the general education learning outcome of having problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Program-AS Geosciences: GEOG 106 fills a degree requirement for the Associate of Science with Geoscience emphasis. The mission of the Associate of Science-Geoscience emphasis is to provide a strong foundation in earth and physical sciences, and prepare students for transfer into many disciplines, including geology, geography, environmental science, and science teaching. GEOG 106 addresses the program student learning outcome:
•have gained a basic understanding of the spatial distribution of human phenomena.
