Catalog: 2011–2012 Catalog Year
Introduces students to the physical and cultural geography, along with the natural history, of Yosemite National Park. Students will explore the national park, learning about the physical processes that shape the landscape and the historical events that brought about national park status. Students will gain an appreciation for their surroundings and the fragility of these rugged ecosystems.
Note: Non-transferable for an NSHE baccalaureate degree. Non-applicable towards an AA or AS Degree.
Upon completion of the course, the student will acquire and understand:
•The basic geologic structure of the Park
•The role the Park played in the environmental movement
•The human-environmental interaction of the Park
•National Park Service management techniques
Linkage of course to educational program mission and at least one educational program outcome.
•To prepare students to succeed in college-level science, math, and engineering courses.
•To provide students with the knowledge they need in their careers.
•To provide students with opportunities for personal enrichment.
