Catalog: 2011–2012 Catalog Year
Provides a two-and-a-half day field experience in geology for students with little or no earth science background. Teaches the basics of volcanic rock identification, history of the Cascade Range, and interpretation of modern and ancient geologic events through field study of Lassen Volcanic National Park.
Note: Non-transferable for an NSHE baccalaureate degree. Non-applicable towards an AA or AS Degree.
Upon completion of the course, the successful student will have:
1) Gained factual knowledge about the Geology of Lassen Volcanic National Park, including rocks and minerals, and geologic history of the park.
2) Learned fundamental principles, generalizations or theories in relation with the Geology of Lassen Volcanic National Park, including plate tectonics and geologic time.
Linkage of course to educational program mission and at least one educational program outcome.
This course is not transferable and addresses the mission of the college and the mission of the division in the following manner.
