Course Outline

I: Catalog Course Description

Introduces students to the many possible applications of extensions in ArcView. Extensions are used to analyze specific types of data related to specific GIS issues. Students will learn how to manipulate databases and load coverages into ArcView files for spatial analysis of various geographic data.

II: Course Objectives

Upon course completion, the student will acquire an understanding of:
•Additional software options in a GIS
•Thematic approaches to spatial analysis
•Enhancing GIS functions
•3D Imaging, network analysis, and spatial analyst are covered
•The concept of spatial association

III: Course Linkage

Linkage of course to educational program mission and at least one educational program outcome.

•Provide employment-related knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the GIS field
•Meet educational criteria for employment.
•Prepare the student for possible transfer to other college or universities to meet higher educational and professional goals.
