Course Outline

I: Catalog Course Description

Focuses on the development of a portfolio for employment in the graphics communications field. Professional and legal requirements will be explored.

Note: Non-transferable for an NSHE baccalaureate degree. Non-applicable towards an AA or AS Degree.

II: Course Objectives

GRC 294B is the exit class for the Graphic Communications degree. Students will develop a portfolio for seeking an entry-level job in the graphic communications industry. Upon course completion, the student will acquire an understanding of:

• Portfolio requirements for the industry
• How to create and produce a professional portfolio
• Resume requirements
• How to create and produce a professional resume
• Job search techniques, including cover letters, cold calls and post-interview requirements
• Job interview techniques
