| Emphasizes the jurisdiction of the Federal and Nevada court systems. Includes discussion of complaints, summons, answers and supplemental pleading. Pre-trial tactics, venue, pre and post trial motions and discovery are covered. |
| II : Course Objectives |
- Gain factual knowledge about Federal and Nevada civil procedure;
- Students will enhance their communication skills through participation in class discussions, oral presentations, and written projects;
- Students will improve their critical thinking skills through basic legal analysis of case law, statutes, and the Federal and Nevada rules of civil procedure.

Civil Procedure is a required course for the AAS Paralegal/Law Program.
The AAS Mission is to provide the academic knowledge and skill training necessary for employment as a paralegal.
This course addresses the following four AAS degree student learning outcomes:
Students are expected to:
1. know the basic principles and rules of Federal and Nevada civil procedure;
2.
a. analyze and interpret case law and rules of civil procedure;
b. locate newly enacted and amended rules of civil procedure and recent trends in civil procedure;
3. appreciate the importance of ethics in drafting pleadings, motions and discovery. |
