Prerequisites LAW 231 & LAW 259 & LAW 261 or consent of program coordinator

Programs of Study This course can be found in the following programs of study:
I : Catalog Course Description
Offers student the opportunity to work as a paralegal under the supervision of an attorney. The student will work over the course of the semester to gain practical work experience. the student will report and evaluate his/her experience to the program coordinator. May be repeated for up to six credits.
II : Course Objectives
  • Gain factual knowledge concerning the procedures of working in a legal office;
  • Students will enhance their communication skills through participation in oral and written projects.
III : Course Linkage
Linkage of course to educational program mission and at least one educational program outcome.

Supervised Field Experience is an elective course for the AAS Paralegal Program.

The AAS Mission is to provide the academic knowledge and skill training necessary for employment as a paralegal.

This course addresses the following four AAS degree student learning outcomes:

Students are expected to:

1. know procedural and substantive law appropriate for a legal assistant; and

2. appreciate the role of legal assistants in the legal system; the importance of ethics in the legal profession, and the responsibility of members of the legal profession to society.
