| Offers a second course in algebra. Studies polynomial, rational and radical expressions; linear, quadratic and polynomial equations; linear and absolute value inequalities; relations, functions and their graphs; systems of linear equations; and applications. |
| II : Course Objectives |
Offers a second course in algebra. Topics include polynomial, rational and radical expressions; linear, quadratic and polynomial equations; linear and absolute value inequalities; relations, functions and their graphs; systems of linear equations; and applications.
- Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to do the following:
- 1. read, write simplify and manipulate polynomial, rational and radical expressions.
- 2. solve linear equations.
- 3. solve quadratic equations using factoring and the quadratic formula.
- 4. solve simple polynomial equations.
- 5. solve linear and absolute value inequalities.
- 6. identify functions.
- 7. graph, find slope and equation of linear functions.
- 8. graph simple quadratic functions.
- 9. use Pythagorean and distance formulas.
- 10. solve a system of linear equations.
- 11. solve application problems.
