Presents elementary problem solving with emphasis on patterns and geometric relationships. Designed for students seeking a teaching certificate in elementary education.

• Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to do the following:
• 1. Compute probability, odds and expected value.
• 2. Apply permutations and combinations to probability problems.
• 3. Compute mean, median, mode, range and standard deviation for a data set.
• 4. Construct and interpret bar graphs, circle graphs and line graphs.
• 5. Identify and solve problems involving polygons, circles and angles.
• 6. Recognize similar and congruent triangles.
• 7. Find area, volume and surface area.
• 8. Perform rotations, translations and dilations on figures in the plane.

Some of the following optional objections may also be included:

• 9. Solve basic triangle problems involving trigonometry.
• 10. Solve systems of linear equations.
• 11. Create tessellations of the plane.
