Develops an understanding of the duties and responsibilities of personnel at the mid-management level.
II : Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, the student should/should be able to:

  1. Identify the responsibilities of a human resources department.
  2. Explain the role of supervisor in human resource management.
  3. Describe the trends in the labor force composition and how they affect human resource management.
  4. Explain how the three branches of government regulate human resource management.
  5. Describe how work flow is related to organizational success.
  6. Explain the role of human resources in the recruitment process.
  7. Describe the selection process and methods of evaluation.
  8. Explain how to assess training needs and link training programs to needs.
  9. Identify the importance of performance management.
  10. Identify the steps in the career management process.
  11. Describe how organizations contribute to employees' job satisfaction.
  12. Identify the decisions involved in establishing a pay structure.
  13. Explain how organizations link wages to overall performance.
  14. Discuss the importance of benefits as part of employee compensation.
  15. Define unions and labor relations and their role in organizations.
  16. Identify the factors that influence human resource management in international markets.

MGT 283--Introduction to Human Resources--meets a General Education requirement of the Associate of Applied Science Degree.


MGT 283 promotes Student Learning Outcomes:
