Introduces basic machine shop skills which include lathe operation, lathe speeds and feeds, precision measuring techniques, layout methods, band saw and drill press operations, and exposure to the science of heat-treating of metals. Shop safety and etiquette will be stressed. To develop entry level skills, MTT 110 is recommended.
Note: Non-transferable for an NSHE baccalaureate degree. Non-applicable towards an AA or AS Degree.
After successful completion of this course, the student will have the basic skills to use standard measuring instruments, setup and operate a lathe, (turn a Diameter, single point a Thread, Knurl and Bore), as well as sharpen various cutting tools, and calculate operating, feeds and speeds.

This course may be chosen to fulfill a Degree Requirement for the Machine Tool Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree and Certificate of Achievement.
The mission of the Associate of Applied science Degree and Certificate of Achievement is to provide employment-related knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in a chosen field of study.
Upon completion of this course, students are expected:

B. perform various types of machining operations.
C. each student will progress along their personal goals, whether they are for personal interest of professional development.
