Course Outline

I: Catalog Course Description

Introduces the correct and pleasing use of the singing voice through a well balanced and coordinated study of vocal literature and exercises. Class may be repeated for a total of nine units. Fee covers cost of 14 half-hour private lessons.

II: Course Objectives

By the completion of the class, the students should, with 75% accuracy:

  • Breathe correctly
  • Sing using chest, mix, and head voice
  • Pronounce consonants and vowels correctly
  • Move through the passagio from chest to mix and mix to head
  • Vary vibrato between operatic and musical theatre styles
  • Use correct posture for singing
  • Identify muscles used for support
