Course Outline

I: Catalog Course Description

Coaches the individual in the techniques used in accompanying choirs and instruments on the piano. Class may be repeated for up to four units.

II: Course Objectives

By the completion of the class, the students should, with an accuracy of 75%:

  • Follow a conductor effectively
  • Read non-verbal cues from a performer
  • Conduct an effective business discussion when hired as an accompanist
  • Support and enhance an instrument or vocalist

III: Course Linkage

Linkage of course to educational program mission and at least one educational program outcome.

Students should:
1. Succeed at transfer institutions
2. Understand the importance of cultural traditions, diversity, and ethics in the modern world.
3. Have an understanding of fine arts or performing arts.
