Prerequisites MATH 120 or MATH 126 or higher or consent of instructor

I : Catalog Course Description
Offers a beginning course in the principles of human nutrition including a study of each of the major nutrients and how they relate to good health and a well balanced diet. Includes four laboratory experiences.

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to do the following:

General Education Mission: This course addresses the fourth bullet under goal 1 in the college mission, "Provide instruction that contributes to a student's...abilities to...think critically and solve problems."

Math 121 satisfies the general education requirement for any degree or certificate and
addresses the mission of and the following student learning outcomes of General Education.

Students who complete a degree or certificate of achievement at WNC are able to

1) demonstrate knowledge of appropriate critical thinking skills.

2) use methods of science.

3) use appropriate problem solving skills.

4) use appropriate principles of reasoning and decision-making.

Program Mission for the AA/AS degree: Nutr 121 addresses the missions of and the following student learning outcomes of the A.A and A.S. degrees.

Outcome 2.d. succeed at their transfer institutions.
