| Introduces the field of psychology. Covers major principles and their application to the study of human behavior. |
| II : Course Objectives |
The course objectives have been aligned with the recommended outcomes from the American Psychological Association and the WNC requirements for freshman level general education courses. The outcomes students are expected to attain are:
- Describe the major perspectives used by psychologists.
- Demonstrate factual knowledge of the following major fields in psychology: neuroscience, sensation, perception, consciousness, learning, memory, cognitive psychology, motivation, emotion, social psychology, personality, and psychological disorders.
- Explain scientific principles appropriate to psychology.
- Apply course materials.

Educational Program Mission Linkage
General Psychology can be used for all degrees and certificates of achievement offered at WNC. It is most strongly linked to missions for general education and the two primary transfer degrees, AA and AS.
