I : Catalog Course Description
Requires independent or collaborative research.
II : Course Objectives

The course objectives have been aligned with the recommended outcomes from the American Psychological Association and the WNC requirements for sophomore level general education courses. Upon completion of the course, students are expected to:

  1. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to complete the specific research in question.
  2. Demonstrate ability to plan and execute research in the selected area.
  3. Plan and complete the agreed upon research project.
  4. Write a report on the research project using the format approved by the American Psychological Association.
III : Course Linkage

Educational Program Mission Linkage

General Psychology can be used for all degrees and certificates of achievement offered at WNC. It is most strongly linked to missions for general education and the two primary transfer degrees, AA and AS.

General Education Program Outcomes Linkage

Students completing this course must demonstrate they have met the following general education student learning outcomes:

• College-level reading and writing skills.
• Problem solving, creative, and critical thinking skills.
• Understanding of the methods of science.
• Understand and apply social science principles.
• Can use appropriate college-level mathematical skills.
• Can locate and evaluate information.

This course helps prepare students to transfer successfully to baccalaureate degree programs.
