| Explores the similarities and differences between the sexes, the consequences of these differences for the individual and society, and how to analyze explanations of gender/sex related behaviors. The course fulfills the diversity requirement for the core curriculum at UNR. |
| II : Course Objectives |
The course objectives have been aligned with the recommended outcomes from the American Psychological Association and the WNC requirements for sophomore level general education courses. The outcomes students are expected to attain are:
- Explain and use clear standards to determine the "truth" and accuracy of information about males and females. This is generally known as develop critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the key issues and themes pertaining to the study of gender and sex differences.
- Know the current findings and arguments regarding important topics in the study of gender.
- Develop skills in locating and evaluating information about males and females.

Educational Program Mission Linkage
Understanding men and women can be used to complete all degrees and certificates of achievement offered at WNC. It is most strongly linked to missions for general education and the two primary transfer degrees, AA and AS.
