Course Outline
I: Catalog Course Description
Emphasizes spoken communication and listening skills; reading and writing skills will be explored. A vocabulary of Russian-English words can be developed to suit students needs. and to increase fluency in the speaking, reading and writing of Russian.
Note: Non-transferable for an NSHE baccalaureate degree. Non-applicable towards an AA or AS Degree.
II: Course Objectives
RUS 101B is designed to help students acquire beginning communication skills within a culturally significant context. Upon completion of this course, students are expected to:
- Be able to communicate orally using basic Russian grammar and vocabulary to ask and answer questions about yourself, members of family, friends, weather, months and days of week, and food.
- Be able to understand some Russian spoken slower than normal pace and develop skills and coping strategies for filling in the gaps.
- Understand Russian tradition through analysis of its proverbs, preverbal words, and tales.
- Gain cultural knowledge and awareness about the areas of the world in which Russian is spoken.
