| Provides clinical experiences in a variety of surgical environments for students to apply knowledge and skills gained in previous and current SRGT courses to the practice setting. During the course students will learn under the guidance of preceptors and faculty. At the conclusion of the course students will be able to function as beginning Level I Surgical Technologists. 405 hours of clinical experience. |
| II : Course Objectives |

At the conclusion of SRGT 132B the student will be able to:
- Integrate and value knowledge derived from the bio/psycho/social sciences, humanities, and surgical technology while providing care to patients in a variety of health care settings under the direction of a registered nurse;
- Practice within the legal and ethical standards for Level I Surgical Technologist;
- Use communication techniques appropriate to the setting;
- Achieve the Level I competencies identified by the Association of Surgical Technologists by demonstrating:
- Knowledge and practice of basic patient-care concepts;
- Application of the principles of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner that provides for optimal patient care in the OR;
- Basic surgical case preparation skills;
- The ability to perform the role of first scrub on all basic surgical cases;
- Responsible behavior as a health care professional.

The purpose of the Certificate of Achievement is to provide employment-related knowledge and skills.
The graduate will demonstrate the ability to:
