Prepare to Succeed
The Tech Prep program allows students to earn college credit for occupational coursework completed in high school. Tech Prep courses are taught by a high school teachers who follow a curriculum established by both high school and college faculty. The program is designed to give students hands-on and academic experience, which translates into real-world skills. These courses carry over to WNC certificate and degree programs, giving students a head start on higher education programs that relate to chosen career paths.
There is no cost per class for the tech prep program and only a one time $10 transcripting fee.
In order to earn Tech Prep credit students must:- Be a high school junior or senior
- Be enrolled in an articulated Tech Prep class
- Complete and return the WNC Application for Admission and High School Authorization forms to the Tech Prep office
- Earn a semester grade of an "A" or "B"
- Request a high school transcript be sent to WNC Admissions and Records
Additional Information- Students are responsible to ensure a copy of their high school transcript has been received by WNC Admissions and Records.
- A $10 transcripting fee must be paid after completion of the applicable high school course(s) completed with a grade of an "A" or "B". You may pay with check, cash or credit card at the WNC Controller's office, Bristlecone 105, 2201 W. College Parkway, Carson City, NV 89703. You can also mail a check made payable to "Board of Regents" to the same address.
- Students are allowed a maximum of 15 Tech Prep credits
- Student are not required to complete a regularly scheduled college course at WNC
