There are many ways to earn college credits, and juniors or seniors can receive credits free now, while still in high school. Tech Prep offers a head start to a technical career with higher wages and with jobs that are in high demand. Employers seek workers with strong skills in the technical fields.

Tech Prep classes count as electives for high school graduation, as well as for college credits! Some of the courses that count for Tech Prep college credits are in:

  • Accounting
  • Auto Tech
  • CADD (Computer Aided Design/Drafting)
  • Computer courses
  • Graphics
  • Construction
  • Digital Photography
  • GIS (Geographic Information Systems)

How does this happen? High school teachers work with WNC faculty to create an agreement so that high school students who take these classes don’t have to re-take them in college.
