Western Nevada College is pleased to announce that it will offer a women's intercollegiate softball program beginning in the 2008-2009 academic year. The team will compete in Division I of the National Junior College Athletic Association.

As a member of the Scenic West Athletic Conference, Western will compete against the College of Southern Idaho, College of Southern Nevada, Colorado Northwestern Community College, North Idaho College, Salt Lake Community College and Snow College.

Players may begin signing National Letters of Intent with Western immediately and will begin practice on August 10.

The new Wildcats softball team will be coached by Richard (Dick) Allen, a Nevada high school Hall of Fame coach whose 4A softball teams won seven state championships, and whose career win-loss record is 506-159.
