8 am – 5 pm: Always Lost: A Meditation on War: The faces of 4,000 American service members who have died serving in Iraq are the inspiration for a summer art exhibit at Western Nevada College. "Always Lost" is a unique display of photos, facts, poems and prose. The exhibit is the result of collaboration between WNC creative writing and sociology students, who combined dozens of personal essays with hundreds of photographs and a series of statistics about the Iraq conflict. The title "Always Lost" comes from a Gertrude Stein quotation about conflict: "War is never fatal but always lost. Always lost." The College Gallery is located in Western's Bristlecone Building in Carson City. It is open this summer during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
