Demand for locally-grown food is increasing, and the College of Southern Nevada and Western Nevada College have created a partnership to help small farms expand the local food movement in the Las Vegas area. Join us in the first of a series of workshops to grow small farm agriculture in Southern Nevada.

  • Small farm operators who want to direct market their product.
  • Professionals and consumers who want to learn more aboutSouthern Nevada's small farm industry.

What will be gained from this workshop?

  • Discover direct marketing options including farmers markets, farm stands, restaurants, subscription farms, u-pick and more.
  • Learn effective marketing strategies including farm branding, signs and displays, and media relations.
  • Make friends with the media. Learn interview skills and how to get your message to the public.
  • Learn how to use Facebook and social media to sell your product.
  • Develop a simple and effective marketing plan to fit your enterprise.

FEATURED SPEAKERS will include marketing and industry experts who are familiar with the challenges of small farms in today's industrial food system. Executive pastry chef Doug Taylor of B&B Hospitality Group will talk about farm-to-restaurant sales and the demand for local produce in Las Vegas' five-star restaurants and casinos. Taylor connects local producers with restaurants and manages the new Bet on the Farm farmers market at Springs Preserve.
