Phi Theta Kappa recognizes academic excellence in two-year colleges and is one of the most prestigious honor societies in higher education. WNC has two chapters of Phi Theta Kappa: Alpha Upsilon Beta, established at WNC Carson City, and Beta Theta Iota at WNC Fallon.

Mission Statement

The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa at Western Nevada College shall be the promotion of scholarship, the development of leadership and service and the cultivation of fellowship among qualified students.

To be eligible for membership:

  • You must be enrolled in a regionally accredited institution offering an associate degree program
  • You must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework that may be applied to an associate degree
  • You must have a grade point average of 3.5
  • You must receive an invitation to membership from the chapter at the college where presently enrolled
