 | | Hillary Arthur | Hillary Arthur is the head coach of the Western Nevada College women's soccer team. In her second season at WNC, Arthur won the Scenic West Athletic Conference Coach of the Year award, and led her team to a 10-9-2 record and a SWAC Region XVIII Championship.
In her first season at Western, she had only five months to build the women's soccer program and recruit an entire team. Under her leadership, the Wildcats posted an impressive first season finish in the top three of the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
Additionally, the National Junior College Athletic Association recognized the WNC soccer team as one of their fall 2005-06 academic teams of the year. The Wildcats were ranked No. 12 in the nation with a cumulative grade point average of 3.04. The 2005 team was also nationally ranked at No. 12 for their in-season academic grade point average. Five team members were also awarded all-conference honors, one of which received an All-American nomination.
Prior to head coaching at WNC, Arthur was the women's soccer assistant coach for California State University, Chico, from 2001-2004, where she also earned a Master of Arts degree in Sports Psychology. During Arthur's time at Chico, the team was ranked nationally by the NCAA in the top 25, advanced to the NCAA Tournament, and consistently placed in the top two of the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
As an intercollegiate soccer player for Humboldt State University from 1996-1999, Arthur received All-Conference awards in both the CCAA and then again when HSU switched to the Great Northwest Athletic Association. Arthur and the Lumberjacks advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 1996 and were back-to-back champions of the GNAC in 1998-1999. She was a four-year starter and three-year captain at HSU.
She also received her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and the Academic Achievement Award for Exercise Science/Cardiac Rehabilitation, a faculty recognition award given to the top graduate within the designated major and emphasis.
Arthur is also a faculty member at WNC and the soccer team's strength and conditioning coach.
