Fall 2007 Class SyllabusSpring 2008 Class Syllabus* Syllabus applies to all sections taught by this instructor unless there is a section specific syllabus.  | | Kevin Murphy in Vancouver on his honeymoon in 2007 | Kevin grew up in Northern California where he attended Santa Rosa Junior College before transferring to California State University, Northridge. At Northridge, he earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Percussion Performance and a Master of Music Degree in Music Composition, both with honors. While a graduate student, Kevin was hired to teach music technology for CSU Northridge and oversee the music department's computer music labs. He was also hired as an instructor in the computer science department.
After graduation, Kevin continued to teach part-time in the music department at Northridge, and also at Moorpark Community College. He was hired as the Webmaster for a music technology retail company, where he spent many years before deciding that it was time to leave Southern California and move to Reno.
Prior to being hired at WNC, Kevin taught music at Truckee Meadows Community College as an adjunct faculty member, where he was the director of the concert band. He is an active musician and has performed for such artists as Frank Sinatra Jr., Regis Philbin, Michael Crawford, Buck Owens, and others. He performs regularly in local groups including the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, BrassAckwards swing band and others. In addition, Kevin is the organist at St. Catherine's Episcopal Church and a staff musician at Trinity Episcopal Church, both in Reno.
Kevin is married to Nikki and they live with two short dogs, Chloe and Dylan.
