Veronica Gibbs
I am informally known as Ronnie, and I grew up in Las Vegas but moved north to pursue higher education. I received an undergraduate degree in Spanish and psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno and this is where I learned that anyone can achieve his or her highest ambitions if given the right tools.
After college I went directly into the work force for a short time. I realized my passion was in the power of higher education and I wanted to help others achieve their goals. I began a program in Counseling and Educational Psychology at UNR where I earned a master's degree with an emphasis in College Student Development.
While working on that degree I was a graduate assistant and an intern at WNC and I came to appreciate and enjoy the intimate and supportive environment here. I was able to use my skills as a mentor and counselor to work with students from diverse backgrounds and fields of study. When students succeed, I am greatly motivated for I know they received the proper tools that lead them to pursue their dreams.
