Kandee Ann Kahn is remembered as a pioneer for women in law enforcement. At only age 19, she began a career in emergency dispatching , a job that was then predominantly held by men. Her experiences as a dispatcher in the "Wild West," colorful and sometimes frightening, honed her dispatching skills.
Communities such as Yakima, Washington, depended upon those very skills during the volcanic eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980. In 1987, Kandee Ann accepted a job as a dispatcher for the city of Reno, and served admirably for 21 years before her retirement in 2008.
In addition to holding a certificate in handwriting analysis, she was the author of Dispatched, a crime novel.
