Due to inclement weather, WNC campuses will close at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20. Campuses will also be closed Saturday, Jan. 21. The Saturday closure specifically impacts a driver education class and the American Legion Oratorical Contest, hosted by the Veterans Resource Center, which are cancelled for tomorrow. Note: Students are encouraged to make any outstanding payments online, however the payment deadline will be extended to Friday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m.

Hawthorne Class Develops Learning Skills

Good study habits and stress management are crucial to a positive and successful college experience. Western Nevada College Hawthorne is offering a class to help students start college out on the right foot.

Strategies for Academic Success (EPY 150), teaches students valuable skills to help them study better. The three-unit class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:30-3:45 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Aug. 31. Cost is $284.25.

Students will learn about learning styles and how to excel in class using techniques that compliment their personal learning style. Productive note taking, test anxiety management, goal setting and other valuable study skills will be covered.
